Ryoko Mitsurugi is the champion of the K-fight, an anything-goes, anytime, anywhere martial arts battle that is the signature feature of Daimon High. Her prowess also brings problems: Daisaku follows her everywhere with a camera and computer; Azumi, the snide president of the flower-arranging club, keeps interrupting her moments with Tatsuya, the gentle kendo coach; and Shizuma, the school's rowdy ex-champion, insists on a rematch. Ryoko finds a mysterious pendant that transports her to the world of Solvania, where she battles a dragonlike "demon beast." Convinced it's just a dream, Ryoko begins an intensive apprenticeship in traditional swordsmanship at Hiten Temple, only to be pulled back to Solvania, this time with Shizuma. The engaging characters and deft balance of slapstick and adventure give Real Bout High School a rambunctious charm that will appeal to fans of Generator Gawl and Outlaw Star.
